What type of therapy is implemented at The Star Center?

The STAR center believes that stuttering should be treated using a comprehensive approach, incorporating physical strategies to make talking easier, as well as education, fear reduction, counseling, and parent/family involvement.

What are the goals of therapy?

The client often decides their own path for therapy and what they want to accomplish.  However, goals commonly include:
  • Decreasing stuttering frequency
  • Eliminating associated struggle
  • Developing healthy attitudes and feelings related to talking
  • Reducing situational and word fears
  • Enhancing one's ability to communicate
  • Increasing one's knowledge about stuttering
While each client grows in unique ways in therapy, STAR hopes that the clients learn that stuttering does not have to define them or prevent them from being effective communicators.

Who will be providing the therapy?

All therapy is provided by highly qualified speech-language pathologists who specialize in stuttering.  Visit the Staff Page to learn more about The STAR Center's therapists.
